Butter Cake Recipes From Scratch
I love my electric stand mixer because it makes baking so much fun and very easy. Yellow Butter Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 egg yolks (the egg whites can be used to make meringues)
- 11/2 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- Juice and rind of one lemon
Method:
- Prepare the cake tin by lining and greasing it
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
- Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together
- Cream the butter and sugar by beating it with an electric stand mixer, such as one of the KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers
- All the sugar must be dissolved into the butter
- Add the egg yolks and beat thoroughly once again
- Gradually add the flour mixture, the milk and the lemon juice alternately

Ingredients:
- 6ozs butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cocoa

- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup chopped pecan nuts
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
- Prepare the cake tins by lining and greasing them
- Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa powder together
- Cream the butter and sugar
- Add the eggs one at a time and beat well after each addition
- Add the flour mixture and lastly fold in the chopped pecan nuts

- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 2 tablespoons hot water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit

- Dissolve the cocoa in the hot water and allow to cool down
- Sift the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt together

- 8 ozs. butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs

Method:
- Prepare the cake tin by lining and greasing it
- Sift the flour baking powder and salt together
- Separate the eggs
- Cream the butter and sugar until creamy and the sugar is completely dissolved
- Add the egg yolk and beat thoroughly
- Gradually add the flour mixture
- Stir in the vanilla
- Fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites
- Put the batter into the prepared cake tin
- Bake until done. When the cake is pressed lightly on the top it springs back (30-45 minutes.)
- Do not open the oven before at least 30 minutes as the cake will fall

Ingredients:
- 6 ozs butter
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 21/2 teaspoons baking powder

- 2 tablespoons milk

- Sift half the flour with the baking powder and salt

- Cream the softened butter with the other half of the flour
- Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternately with the egg mixture and milk.
- Stir in the essence
Sultana Butter Cake Recipe From Scratch
Ingredients:
- 4 ozs butter
- 1cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup sultanas
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
- Prepare the cake tins by lining and greasing them
- Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg together
- Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy and the sugar is dissolved
- Add the eggs one at a time beating well after each addition
- Add the flour mixture and the milk alternately
- Fold in the sultanas
- Put the batter in the prepared cake tine
- Bake until done, 30-45 minutes
